Ford and BMW are already onboard with an idea that would issue blockchain-based ‘birth certificates’ to automobiles. The Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative, MOBI, presented the idea in hopes of minimizing fraud in the secondhand automobile sales market. This would work similarly to a Carfax report, only it will be blockchain compliant — and even tamper-proof. The certificates will host information such as maintenance history and more.
