Whether this is your first car or you are trading in your old model, it can be a challenge trying to find the perfect car for your needs. Cars are a major purchase and we rely on them to get around in our day to day lives.
Jason Grzesik is an all-around car enthusiast. He has worked as a car consultant, helping to guide customers towards their new rides. Today he shares his advice for finding the right car for you.
- Make a list of everything that you need out of a car. Do you have kids to drive around? What kind of safety features are you looking for? Consider how long your commute is and what kind of driving you usually do.
- Figure out your budget. The general advice is that you shouldn’t spend more than 15% of your monthly income on car payments. Factor in things like repairs and gas money as well. Buying used is a great way to save money – brand new cars lose about 10% of their value as soon as you drive off of the lot.
- Always do a test drive. Set up an appointment at the dealership. If you have a few different cars in mind, try to set up a few appointments on the same day so you can really compare them.
