In a photography rut lately? Maybe you feel like you’ve taken the same shot over and over again. Have no fear, photography enthusiast Jason Grzesik offers his advice on some cool new photography shots you can try this summer.
- Toilet Paper Holder
You might be surprised to find out that your TP holder can actually serve two purposes! When you reach the end of the roll, use tape to attach the cardboard cylinder to your camera lens. Depending on how wide the shot is, you can create a dark vignette around the composition with a super defined center.
- Room Mist/Photo Fog
If you’re interested in a hazy, faux fog element to your photos, pick up some aerosol sprays for the room where you plan on taking photos. Spray the room enough so that you can see a slight mist. Photo fog spray does the trick as well.
When you set up the shot, check the exposure and lower it a bit, and try to compliment the light source so the haze pops in your photographs. Remember that this hack only works indoors because the mist takes a while to evaporate!
- Colored Smoke
These colorful sticks have become increasingly popular in photography for streetstyle and desert photographs. If you’re looking for a festive or editorial shoot, try buying some of these fun sparklers and see what kind of whimsical photos you can come up with. Just remember to keep these shoots outdoors to limit any health and safety hazards.
